*Committed *Qualified *Ready to Serve

October 13, 2008

Dear Friends:

The election is just a few short weeks away.  I truly appreciate all the work so many have done to help get the word out about why I am the best candidate for this position.  And there is still more work to do.  Please take a moment to e-mail your friends and ask them to visit my website to learn what I’ve done to earn their vote on November 4!  I invite everyone to check out my qualifications so they can vote with confidence that I am the best choice for Circuit Court Judge, Division 4.  What they’ll discover is that I am the only candidatewho has practiced both criminal law and civil law.  I found that my criminal law experience was vital when I served as Circuit Court judge in 2006 because criminal matters account for about 75-80 percent of the daily docket.  All the Fraternal Order of Police lodges in the county recognized this important distinction and have endorsed by campaign to return to the Bench.  I appreciate their support and yours too, and I respectfully ask you to help me continue spreading the word.

Email KemperForJudge@aol.com if you

  • Need a yard sign
  • Want to send/give post cards to your family, friends and co-workers
  • Would like to distribute literature in your neighborhood
  • Would like to help in some other way

Once again, thank you!

Dear Supporters:

Thank you, thank you, and, did I mention, thank you!  I am so happy to have won this first of two elections on my journey to being the judge in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court.

In judicial races, which are nonpartisan, the top two vote getters in the primary proceed to the general election in the fall.  Thanks to your efforts and, of course, your votes, I am one of those two candidates!

So, the hard work has just begun and I will be counting on you again in the coming months to help spread the word about me and what I have done to earn the vote of the citizens of Jefferson County.  On November 4, 2008, the ONE candidate with the most votes will become the Judge in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court!

I would love to hear from you.  Even brief notes from my supporters are so energizing.  If you didn’t get a chance to officially volunteer in the primary election, please go to the volunteer page and let us know what you are willing to do!  If you did volunteer, we will be counting on you again for the fall election!

 Once again, thank you!

Dear Supporters:

The election is Tuesday, May 20. There is still time for you to help spread the word about me. You can e-mail or call your family and friends or visit your neighbors, tell them why you are voting for me and encourage them to check out the website and see what I have done to earn their vote. You can also tell them, on my behalf, that I respectfully ask for their vote on May 20!

Another thing that you may want to do is simply encourage people to vote! People who are registered Independent cannot vote in most primary races but INDEPENDENTS CAN VOTE FOR JUDGES. Also, you may have heard about the “little-known” Kentucky law that does not allow someone who changes their party affiliation after January 1 to vote in the primary. A lot of Kentucky voters changed their affiliation after January 1 so they may be planning on staying home May 20. This law does not apply to judicial races. PEOPLE WHO CHANGED THEIR PARTY CAN VOTE FOR JUDGES.

Gina and I appreciate so very much the support and hard work of so many people. We have been touched by the enthusiasm of not only family, friends and colleagues but also of strangers who have called us to see what they can do to help. It has been humbling and gratifying!

We are down to the final days of the first of what we hope will be two elections this year to elect W. DOUGLAS KEMPER for CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE.

Once again, thank you for your support!

Dear Friends:

The May 20 primary election date is quickly approaching. Judicial elections are different from partisan races in many ways. The most notable is that there are no issues to debate so voters can’t vote based on whether or not the candidate’s views on issues are the same as his or her own. Many people vote on name recognition alone because they just don’t know much about any of the candidates. Ideally, one’s qualifications for the job should be the most important factor in determining who gets elected, but that’s not always the case. The realist in me recognizes that I am not going to change this method of choosing a candidate over night. The optimist in me has focused my campaign on the goal that people not only hear my name, but also learn about the person behind that name. It is my belief that voters who study the candidates in this race will recognize that

• I am the MOST QUALIFIED candidate for this position

• I am the ONLY candidate with substantial experience in both CRIMINAL and CIVIL law, in that I have devoted equal portions of my professional career to each

• I am the ONLY candidate who has been a JUDGE*

In order for me to achieve my goal of once again serving the people of Jefferson County as Circuit Court Judge, I need your help. Once you have decided to vote for me, I need your help in encouraging others to learn about who I am so they too will vote for me on May 20. This is a primary, so the two candidates with the most votes will proceed to the general election in November.

If you would like to help assure that W. Douglas Kemper is elected Circuit Court Judge, starting with winning the primary, you can click on the VOLUNTEER button and fill out the form, or simply e-mail the campaign at kemperforjudge@aol.com and let us know what you can do to help. Some suggestions on how you can help me win this election are:

• Invite me to a business meeting, club meeting or social gathering so I can introduce myself and meet your colleagues and friends

• Attend community events or participate in walks or runs wearing a KEMPER t-shirt

• Display a yard sign

• Ask your friends to display yard signs and/or help distribute yard signs

• Send post cards to your family and friends, encouraging them to vote for me (the campaign will provide you with the cards and postage)

If you are willing to do any or all of these things, please send us an e-mail or fill out the volunteer form.

Some things you can do on your own:

• Talk to people you know and encourage them to vote for W. DOUGLAS KEMPER on May 20. Direct those people to this website if they are interested in learning more about me and why I am the best choice for Circuit Court Judge.

• Send an e-mail to people you know telling them why you are going to vote for me and encourage them to vote for me.

• E-mail the campaign treasurer, Steve Aldridge, if you would like to offer financial support or click here for more information.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my website. I hope to hear from you soon!

February 1, 2008

Dear Friends and Supporters:

I am pleased to announce my candidacy for Jefferson Circuit Court, Division 4. I promised you that I would run again because it is important that Jefferson County have qualified, well-prepared judges. According to many of the attorneys who practiced before me, law enforcement officers, jurors and victims, I served the people of Jefferson County well in 2006.

The time I spent on the bench in 2006 was the highlight of my career. Since beginning my career as a prosecutor, I knew I wanted to be a judge and felt that I prepared myself to be a fair, competent and consistent Circuit Court Judge. My time as judge confirmed that I am well prepared to be a Circuit Court Judge. I promise you that the people of Jefferson County will be well served if they elect me as the next judge in Division 4 of Jefferson Circuit Court.

I respectfully ask for your vote and would greatly appreciate your efforts to encourage others to Vote for W. Douglas Kemper for Circuit Court Judge. I hope I can count on you to spread the word about me to all your friends, family, colleagues, and even strangers you meet!

The primary election is May 20, 2008. Be sure to vote and I ask that you cast your Circuit Court Judge vote for W. Douglas Kemper.

Respectfully,

* Please note that several weeks after this message was written, a candidate in the race was appointed to serve until the general election in November.
